ALA Department of Vermont President 2024 - 2025 John R. Tester Welcome to the Vermont American Legion Auxiliary website! I hope you will take the time to explore our website and learn about the many amazing programs we have and things the American Legion Auxiliary, Department of Vermont, does for our Veterans, their families, our communities and our youth. My name is John R. Tester, a member of Ballard Hobart Unit 36 in Ludlow,Vermont and I am honored to be serving as the President of the Department of Vermont for the 2024-2025 term. I have been a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for just over five years, I am eligible for the Auxiliary through my wife, Past Department Commander Catherine Tester, served in the United States Marine Corps for 15 years. My father, two of my sons and two of my nephews are also Veterans. I have had the pleasure of serving at many levels in the Auxiliary. At the Unit level I have served as Chaplain, Sgt-at-Arms, and served two terms as Unit President. At the Department level, I have served as Assistant Sgt-at-Arms, two years as Sgt-at-Arms, and last year as the Department Vice-President. I also served three years as the Children and Youth Chairman. Nationally, I have had the honor to serve on two National Committees, Children and Youth and Americanism, both as the Eastern Division Chairman. I also served as Rules Chairman for the 104th National Convention of the American Legion Auxiliary in Charlotte, NC. At my installation in June 2024, I spoke about my Four Points of Light Initiative. These are Mission, Membership, Communication, and Patriotism. I am encouraging all of our Auxiliary members to focus on these Four Points of Light which will help improve our mission of serving our veterans, increasing our membership, getting the word out about who we are and what we do, and instilling in all we come into contact with to honor our flag and our country. If you are a member of the Auxiliary, THANK YOU for everything you do! We are the nation’s most preeminent program that supports our Veterans because of what you do. If you are a visitor to our website, welcome! If you are interested in joining the American Legion Auxiliary, we have contact information here that you can use to reach out to our headquarters. We can answer any questions you may have, determine your eligibility, and help get you signed up. We would love to have you join our team. God Bless our men and women in uniform, our American Legion Auxiliary, and the United States of America!
In the Spirit of Service, Not Self,
